I'm Captain Jack D’Kat. I’m a five year old, blue and white Japanese Babtail cat. At 2 1/2 years, I was diagnosed as having idiopathic spinal hyperesthesia syndrome, also known as Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome (FHS). To sum that up, severe twitchy skin, being extremely vocal, over-grooming and self-mutilation, running through the house like the devil himself was chasing after me. This is not to be mistaken for normal "silly" cat behavior. I was truly in distress and have been known to injure myself. My guardian believed she was doing me great justice feeding me glamorous expensive foods. Sure, she was spending a healthy booty for the stuff, but really it was making my syndrome worse, Toxins and dietary preservatives used in many foods can Increase the syndrome, After having seen three separate veterinarians, I was sent to Canton, Michigan to be seen by a pet neurologist. After a thorough examination my syndrome, FHS, was determined. Medications of anticonvulsants were started immediately and my neurologist also reendowed we change my diet. He mentioned the brand Wysong, “To make one a healthy cat, one needs to be on a healthy diet." Well, what does a pet neurologist really know?
It’s been almost two years since Jack has been eating his fill of Wysong's Vitality· Archetype, and Cat Treats. His FHS journal has gone untouched since his last "attack” in June of 2004, Amazing, since he was having “spells and episodes of attack" on the average of once to 3 times a day before switching his food. The original anticonvulsants that were issued have been slowly decreased instead of the normal increasing, His prognosis has gone from being "guarded" to being "well adjusted." l can't say that Wysong was the cure - but it was the most obvious result in his quality of life. Jack now is a playful, happy cat, enjoying long car rides and exploring new surroundings. Sure he still has Feline Hypersthesia Syndrome, but it no longer disrupts his life.
For this, I want to Thank you all of you, at Wysong for making a difference.
Sincerely,
Karen Herring and Captain Jack D'Kat
