Customer claims Wysong foods did not save her cat's life

Question:
Claims Wysong foods did not save her cat's life.

Answer:
First of all let us say how much we sympathize with your loss. Losing a loved companion like this is one of life's cruel tragedies. We hope you can reflect on the good times you have had and be thankful for that.

In your phone call you made several statements that we need to respond to.

Question:
She said that she has been a user of Wysong for many years and she rotated foods as she was told to do and still her cat died from kidney problems.

Answer:
Kidney disease is a complex condition that is very difficult to assign a specific cause to.

Question:
She said the food we have available for cats has carbs in it and carbohydrates aren't good for cats, it will kill them.

Answer:
This is not necessarily true. Before we developed foods with no starches, hundreds of thousands of animals ate our foods with starches and had remarkable health. Many living into their 20s. See testimonials: http://www.wysong.net/testimonials.php.

Question:
Her vet told her the problem was the food that she was feeding, because it had carbs in it.

Answer:
That is an assertion that cannot be proven. It would mean that the 99.999% of pets eating foods with carbs would be getting kidney disease. But they don't.

Question:
She said one of our techs even told her that vets are always trying to get us to take the carbs out of our foods so we know that it is bad if the vets tell us that.

Answer:
We are the company that invented no starch foods. We are led by our own veterinarians. While some practitioners may have contacted us requesting no-starch foods, we have always been able to direct them to Wysong diets with low or no starches.

Question:
She had two friends that were feeding Wysong and had the same problem with their cats so she was going to tell everyone she knows not to buy our product because we knowingly put carbs in our cat food when it isn't good for them.

Answer:
As a part of a varied diet, carbs in pet foods are well tolerated.

Question:
Even the Epigen says that we are using potato and corn protein which is a carb.

Answer:
Potato and corn protein is not a carb, it is protein--exactly what pets are designed for.

Question:
We use the slogan "The thinking person's pet food" and yet we don't practice what we tell our Customers to do. Our philosophy sounds great but we don't follow it.

Answer: This is not true, we practice what we preach. If you read our materials more thoroughly you will find that to be true. We hope this is helpful to you. We understand the desire to cast blame when a loved one is lost.
