Probiotics and Enzymes in Pet Foods

On many of the ingredient labels, you will see a number of "fermentation products". These refer to probiotics, which are grown (fermented) on substrates.

Probiotics such as Lactobacillus, Aspergillus, Enterococcus, and Bacillus species favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote healthy digestion, boost immune function, and increase resistance to infection and a host of metabolic and degenerative diseases. Probiotics also synthesize numerous digestive enzymes, vitamins, and amino acids. To futher clarify, Probiotics are the same "live" ingredients that you would find in cultured yogurt or other fermented products.

(Probiotics and enymes are incorporated in our dry cat foods, dog foods, TNT™ processed raw cat and dog foods, and Wysong cat and dog supplements.)

"Studies have shown that these probiotics help protect companion animals from intestinal infections, fungal growth and diarrhea, maintain overall digestive health, reduce the effects of stress, the risk of allergies and Salmonella levels, and can improve skin/coat conditions, immunity and resistance to disease." —Nutrition Update by Jessica Taylor
